August 17th 2007
On August 19th 2007, changing over of account numbers for units will be carried out at the Business Department of CCB Headquarters. For Renminbi and foreign currency balance accounts of units which were opened at the Business Department of CCB Headquarters before August 27th 2004 and which have been in use until now, the new account numbers will be in effect starting August 20th 2007.
There will be a transition period to help customers get used to their new account numbers. New account numbers (ie, those which were began to be used on or after August 20th 2007) will be able to support all receiving and payment functions as soon as the changing over is completed. For three months after the changing over, old account numbers which have been in use until now will still be able to support payment and receiving functions. From the fourth to the sixth month after the changing over, these old account numbers will still be able to support receiving functions but not payment functions. From the sixth month after the changing over onwards, ie, beginning February 20th 2008, all external receiving and payment functions of the old account numbers will be stopped.
This announcement will be made simultaneously on the third page of the Chinese edition of Financial Times on August 17th 2007. For enquiries, please phone (86-10) 6759 4207 (Renminbi accounts) or (86-10) 6759 4155 (foreign currency accounts).
