CCB Reminds Clients to be Cautious of Fake Charity Syndicates

As informed by source of CCB, that fake charity syndicates are found using the name of China Red Cross in obtaining donations through internet and mobile.  In order to avoid fraudulent cases on CCB’s clients, CCB requested all branches to make a reminder: China Red Cross and China Charity etc do not have accounts on individual basis.  Instead, all of the accounts are registered with the full organization name.  Before making donations or transmittance to earthquake victims, clients need to check clearly on the recipients’ names and their account number.  In addition, CCB has arranged internal donation within the company but not any arrangement in receiving donations on behalf of CCB from the community.  Clients have to pay extra attention to those messages that ask for donations from CCB in order to avoid fraudsters. 

 

According to CCB, they have set up a number of policies in order to guarantee the safety of clients’ donations and transmittance.  First, “earthquake donation panels” have been placed on all the CCB websites to alert clients for anti-fraudsters.  Second, CCB will counter-check seriously on all related information.  All the branches that handle the related business on donation through express credit channel should use China’s Yellow Page 114 or the contact number of Red Cross Society of China released by the media in order to check against the authenticity and accuracy of the specific donation account number.  For the donation that is transferred in the form of transmittance, the bank details of the recipient must be carefully checked upon, particularly if clients are transferring donation to individuals’ accounts. Thirdly, it is suggested that clients use CCB’s “Swift Remit” in processing donation, transmittance-related business so as to have a clear record on information of donors and recipients. Finally, the online donation services named “donation express” enables clients to click the name of the charity organizations for faster donation procedure.  Clients can also call 95533 to enquire donation account information.
